Welcome! I am Rui Wang, a PhD Candidate in the Department of Resource Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to joining UMass Amherst, I received a B.A. in Economics from Donghua University (Shanghai, China) and an M.A. in Economics from Xiamen University (Xiamen, China).
I am interested in applying economic methods to address challenging research questions in natural resources and the environment. An important focus of my research explores how behavioral economics can be integrated into developing effective environmental policies. This involves using experimental methods to study topics such as climate change perceptions and the adoption of renewable energy technologies. Equally important, I am interested in the design of environmental and natural resource policies, with a particular focus on instrument choice in the emissions market. I am committed to translating these research insights into practical strategies that can be effectively implemented to enhance environmental governance and policy-making.
